The third in the Number Series, Culmina's Nº 003 En Coteaux Riesling is Culmina's first ever single varietal release from Stan's Bench. Left on the vine to hang well into the Autumn season, the wine has been modelled similar to the first release in the Number Series, N° 001, release in an effort to highlight the distinct terroir differences between two of Culmina's vineyard benches.


Okanagan Valley

Clone 49 on Rootstock 3309 & 140RU fruit from Block U on Stan's Bench; 6th leaf fruit.

The fruit was left on the vine late into the season to allow for increased flavour and sugar development. It was then hand-picked on Novvember 18th, yielding a crop equivalent of 0.9 tonnes to the acre. Whole bunch pressed, the wine was then racked into stainless steel bareels, inoculated, with fermented to 37 grams per litre of residual sugar, once optimal balance had been reached. The wine was then fined for stability, line-bottled and finished with a Vinolok closure on March 15th, 2017. Only 94 cases produced.

Generous and perfumed, the En Coteaux Riesling features intense aromas of baked orchard fruit, sweet spice, and lilac potpourri. The opulent palate is balanced with a pleasing acidity, refreshing minerality, and an abundance of red apple and slivered almond flavours. Layered and refined, the finish is memorable and pronounced.

Roasted pork belly with pear and celeriac purée.
